Satori is a Japanese Buddhist term for enlightenment, meaning "understanding". In the Zen Buddhist tradition, satori refers to the experience of enlightenment. It is a term used in Zen traditions meaning "seeing into one's true nature." Satori is commonly translated as enlightenment, a word that is also used to translate bodhi, prajna and buddhahood. The Shaolin Monk at the bottom of the picture , symbolize the path of the Buddhist martial arts which originated in the famous monastery of Shaolin in Henan, China. There the Indian monk Bodhidharma founded the Chan or Zen tradition of Buddhism. If the martial arts are properly taught in the lineage of this monastery then they are in my opinion definitely a way to reach liberation of Samsara.
